🔼 Tough Luck Loss. Virginia baseball’s season came to an end in Omaha on Sunday, losing to TCU 4-3 in an elimination game.

The contest was close from the start and stayed that way throughout, but a TCU RBI double in the eighth gave the Horned Frogs their crucial fourth run of the game.

Connelly Early tossed five innings of two-run ball for the Hoos, and struck out a pair.

The Hoos also suffered a one-run defeat in their opening game of the College World Series, losing 6-5 to Florida. Griff O’Ferrall led the way for Virginia at the plate, collecting a pair of hits and RBI against the Gators.

🔼 Update The Record Book. Out with the old, in with the new - Derek Johnson broke his own school record in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Elliott Denman New Jersey International meet over the weekend in a time of 8:25.23.

Johnson’s previous school record came at the TrackTown Qualifier in 2021, where he ran 8:28.72.

Hecht, an outside hitter, spent four years in College Station and started 20 contests. She logged 198 kills and 267 digs in 64 total matches.

She will have one season of eligibility remaining for the Hoos.
